LibreWeddingPlanner

LibreWeddingPlanner is free, open source software designed to help individuals organize their wedding.

It provides features like guest and expense management, website builder, RSVP forms, and seating plan calculation among others. Full documentation of each feature can be found in the documentation section.

Free & Open Source Software​

This project was created to help individuals organize their own wedding, without the need to rely on proprietary software or services. We firmly believe that the data related to your wedding should be owned by you, and not by a third party. For that reason, our recommendation is that you host your own instance of LibreWeddingPlanner, either at home, on your own server or on a cloud provider of your choice.

However, we are well aware that most users don't have the technical skills or resources to host their own instance. For that reason, we have made a public instance of LibreWeddingPlanner that anybody can use for free (as long as we can afford the server costs). In case you wanted to set up your own instance, please find the instructions here.

LibreWeddingPlanner is free (as in freedom), open source software, licensed under the AGPLv3. You are free to download the source code, use it, modify it, and distribute it according to the license terms. Please, find links to the source code in the footer of this page.

Anti-AI stance​

The use of gen-AI in the development or features of LibreWeddingPlanner is not welcome. For example, the following contributions will not be accepted:

  • Issue reports generated with AI - If you want someone to take the time to fix the issue or work on a feature, please dedicate some minutes yourself to explain the bug or feature request.
  • Pull requests generated by AI, or obviously asisted by AI. We cannot tell if a specific line of code is AI-generated or not. But if a PR is obviously AI-generated, it will be closed, and the author, warned. Subsequent attempts may result in a ban.
  • Features that involve the use of AI. All features involving the incorporation of AI as part of the product will be rejected.

Making this project free software was an ethical choice, and endorsing or allowing the use of gen-AI in it is just not right to me. The brutal impact gen-AI is having in our environment, jobs, and learning skills among others would make it impossible for me to continue believing in this project as an ethical alternative to proprietary, commercial software.
